Austin ISD Family:
The Texas Department of Agriculture has begun allowing school districts to serve meals to parents and guardians without requiring that their children be present.
Parents or guardians must show one form of documentation for each child to receive meals:
- an official letter or email from the school that confirms children are enrolled
- individual student report cards
- attendance record from parent portal of school website
- birth certificate of children not in school or
- student ID cards.
At curbside sites we are asking parents to tape the documentation to their car window or dash so cafeteria team members can review it through the glass.
At bus stops, we are asking parents to leave the documentation on the table for team members to review. To maintain safety, papers will not be passed back and forth.
If parents or guardians do not have documentation, children must be present to receive meals.
TDA does not allow reimbursement for meals served to a parent or guardian without a child present without documentation. To ensure AISD receives funding for the meals we serve, we must verify the meals we prepare are going to children.

Thank you for supporting our food services teams who are continuing to work around the clock to serve thousands of meals to our families every day.
